Prepress

When the finished product photo reflects elegance in design and appears luminous on screen, the creative goal has been achieved. However, here is where the next stage begins. The prepress stage requires complex knowledge and proprietary equipment to provide accountable proofing results. At Impact Images every job that leaves for print undergoes the rigor of this process. The proof and color management thereby serves as a strict guideline for the client's desired printing process result.

This process involves these procedures:

>Image Retouching
>Color Conversion
>RAW file color white balance
>RGB to CMYK
>Color Cast Removal
>Local or Global Color Adjustment
>Selective Color Enhancement
>Image Sharpening
>Press Proofing
>File Size(height/width crop)
>Specifying File Resolution
>Maximum Ink Density Levels
>File Extension Conversion
(tiff,eps,jpeg,psd,pdf,ect.)
>File Archiving

Colors are adjusted on screen to match the product. They are then sent to a digital proofing station where software calculates ink densities and color values. They are printed on calibrated paper with specific printer profiles to match press standards. The original file is then tweaked to ensure that the final printed product will achieve the desired result. This digital proof, along with the adjusted file, is shipped to the printer. Now the printer knows exactly what the final product should look like and has a guideline to work from.
